Woodland Garden

Oaks, pines, and maples overshadow my back yard, and invasive plants used to run wild. Over the years, I've encouraged the "good" plants and put in new species. Mayapple, wild ginger, jack-in-the-pulpit, bloodroot, and assorted ferns thrive here, alongside polite non-natives like sweet woodruff and candytuft. Slowly, I'm growing an understory of witch hazel, redbud, and other small trees for privacy and color.

Next project: Nahant hillside
